About The Monthlies Project

We’re so glad you’re here! It means you give a drip about young menstruators in our community who struggle to access period products when they need it. For most of us, we’ve been there before: our period comes unexpectedly and inconveniently, and we don’t have supplies on hand to manage the mess. (Raise your hand if you’ve had to ask the person in the stall next to you to “help a sister out”?) It’s a dilemma, right? Now imagine that happening on a monthly basis.

For some young people, not having period products is a frequent occurrence. This is an issue not widely talked about called period poverty. Not only does period poverty negatively impact physical, mental, and emotional health, it can create a barrier to equal opportunity in education. Lack of access to menstrual health products can cause students with periods to miss or be late to class, or feel anxious about period care. Chronic absenteeism affects achievement in school and leads to educational inequity—and it’s happening in our community.

Inspired to take action, a group of women in the Fox Cities started The Monthlies Project, a volunteer-run community initiative to address the need and ensure period products get into the hands of young people who need it. With the support of Kimberly-Clark and other corporate sponsors, as well as individual donors, we’re painting the town red and making periods mainstream!

Period protection is not a privilege. Menstrual rights are human rights! We're taking the opportunity to start the conversations, learn more about the issue, and raise money to support the effort to distribute period products to students in the greater Fox Cities area.

Thank you for supporting The Monthlies Project. Periods are a fact of life; we’re not going anywhere — except with the flow!
